Maison Bauchart or
Four Seasons George V?

About 80 metres apart. On one side, a ten-key townhouse hotel; on the other, a palace with three Michelin-starred restaurants. Same block, two ways to stay.

Direct answer

This is the 'palace or townhouse?' question, put to two addresses 80 metres apart around avenue George V. Four Seasons Hotel George V (31 avenue George V, Palace, 3 MICHELIN Keys, 243 rooms and suites) brings together three starred restaurants (Le Cinq ★★★, L'Orangerie ★★, Le George ★), a legendary cellar and full palace life. Maison Bauchart (11 rue Quentin-Bauchart, 5-star, 10 keys), our partner house, does the opposite: a carriage door, butlers, apartments of up to 3 bedrooms for 6 guests and a spa that feels private. Fine dining, buzz and the full services of a grand palace: George V. Privacy, family, the feeling of being at home: Bauchart.

The match

Seven Rounds to Settle It

Two philosophies

Maison Bauchart
Ten keys behind a carriage door on rue Quentin-Bauchart. No bustling lobby, no public restaurant: you walk into a house, and the butlers write to you before arrival to plan the stay.
Four Seasons George V
An avenue George V legend nearing its centenary: 243 rooms and suites, spectacular flower displays, afternoon tea at La Galerie, a bar where people come to be seen. The palace on its grandest scale.
→ To disappear into a house: Bauchart. To live the great Paris scene: George V.

Dining

Maison Bauchart
Breakfast served in your suite, room service, a candlelit dinner or a private chef in your suite: you eat at home, very well, without a starred dining room.
Four Seasons George V
Three starred restaurants under one roof, a first in Europe according to the palace: Christian Le Squer's Le Cinq ★★★, L'Orangerie ★★, Le George ★. Plus a cellar the MICHELIN Guide puts at some 50,000 bottles.
→ Dining: George V, no contest.

Families and longer stays

Maison Bauchart
Three apartments with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms for 6 guests, with a sitting room and open kitchen: the layout of a real Paris flat. We stayed there across three generations, in the two-bedroom Galliera Suite.
Four Seasons George V
Generous rooms by Paris standards (close to 40 m² for the smallest, per the MICHELIN Guide), residential-style suites and a published family offer. A large group takes several rooms or suites.
→ Several generations in one apartment: Bauchart.

The spa

Maison Bauchart
Indoor pool, Moroccan hammam, sauna and two treatment suites, all linked to your floor by lift. We had a couples' massage there, arranged by the team.
Four Seasons George V
The palace spa, which the MICHELIN Guide ranks among the most sumptuous in Paris, with the treatment menu of a great international house.
→ A tie: scale at the George V, intimacy at Bauchart.

Service

Maison Bauchart
Butlers rather than a front desk: a preferences questionnaire before arrival, unpacking, bookings, personal shopper, coach. When the street was closed for works, the team guided us in and parked the car at the Prince de Galles across the road.
Four Seasons George V
The Four Seasons standard at one of its flagship addresses: service the MICHELIN Guide holds up as a model of its kind, at grand-palace scale.
→ Equal standards, two scales: the house knows its ten keys one by one.

Privacy and buyouts

Maison Bauchart
The whole house can be taken exclusively (from seven suites, from €24,000 a night, two nights minimum in low season): suites, spa, cigar lounge, 500-bottle cellar. For a birthday, a shoot or a stay with close protection, you host at home.
Four Seasons George V
A 243-key palace cannot be taken over like a house: privacy there lives in your suite, and the Royal Suites come with a dining room for eight and a 60 m² terrace.
→ Discretion and a house of your own: Bauchart.

Price and booking

Maison Bauchart
The range shared by the house: €1,600 to €4,600 per suite per night depending on category and season, service and 10% VAT included, breakfast and city tax extra (October 2026). GADAIT books directly as official partner.
Four Seasons George V
Rates on request by dates and season; the palace publishes offers (advance purchase, family escape, hotel credit). We quote it as an independent stay advisor.
→ Compare on your dates: we quote both side by side.

Eighty metres,
two ways to stay
A palace to be seen in, a house to share as a family.
Our verdict

Our Verdict, Frankly

Book the Four Seasons Hotel George V if your Paris is about great tables and being part of the scene: three starred restaurants, a legendary cellar, La Galerie, terraces facing the Eiffel Tower. It is the palace experience on its grandest scale.

Book Maison Bauchart, 80 metres away, for a stay where you want the discretion of a private house: a family or several generations in a three-bedroom apartment, a spa that feels private, butlers who arrange everything. Transparency: Maison Bauchart is our official partner, and we stayed there as a family in August 2026. For a stay built around fine dining or a first grand-palace stay, we recommend the George V without hesitation, and we arrange both.
