Italy's rarest format: an entire medieval hamlet for your tribe — up to 80 guests sleeping on site, 100 at the event. Vows on the piazza or in the lavender garden, dinner by a Noma-trained chef, concerts in the 14th-century church, a spa carved in stone. Car-free, above the UNESCO Val d'Orcia: your guests cross paths with no one but you.
Castello di Casole — the castle wedding
A castle whose history begins in 998, once home to the Visconti family, on ~1,300 organic hectares: the grand Tuscan wedding done properly, for 20 to 150 guests, carried by Belmond service. Ceremony in the gardens above the Elsa valley, dinner at the Emporio or at one long table in the vines, 39 suites and two villas to sleep the inner circle.

A micro-wedding or two-family vow renewal: Borgo Santo Pietro (22 rooms, gardens of 300,000 plants, a starred table — the ultimate intimate jewel box). The Real Battle: Dates
The Tuscan wedding high season fits in two windows: mid-May to late June (gardens at their peak, long evenings) and September (golden light, harvest). Saturdays in those windows, at the great houses, book nearly a year ahead — sometimes more for a full buyout.
The counter-calendar is a genuine strategy: a Thursday or Friday opens dates otherwise gone; late April and early October deliver the same Tuscany with more latitude. Mind the houses' seasons: Castello di Casole runs mid-March to October, Rosewood closes in deep winter.
Getting Married 'For Real' in Italy?
Two very different paths. A civil wedding in Italy is open to foreigners and takes place at the town hall (some Tuscan comuni lend superb historic rooms) — it requires an administrative file (depending on nationality, certificates and declarations such as the nulla osta) to be anticipated months ahead with your consulate.
