From a Year-998 Castle to Visconti's Parties
Few Tuscan houses carry a timeline like this: Etruscan roots, a medieval castle built in 998, the Bargagli family in the 1800s, then the family of Luchino Visconti — the filmmaker hosted his parties here. Restored and opened as a hotel in 2012, the estate joined Belmond in 2018, which applies its blend of historical patina and watchmaker service. The setting: about 1,300 hectares of certified-organic estate and nature reserve, with vineyards and olive groves.
Castle Suites, Tosca at Table
39 suites — Junior Suites of 37–66 m² up to Suites of 61–149 m² — plus two 250 m² signature villas (sleeping up to 7) and secluded farmhouses across the estate. At table, Tosca, led by chef Daniele Sera, serves a refined Tuscany whose 'Territori' project was developed with three-star chef Norbert Niederkofler; the Castello Grill, Emporio and Bar Visconti cover the other registers. The Essere Spa occupies the former wine cellar, extended by a panoramic infinity pool.

This is the house of castle romance: thousand-year-old stone, sunsets over the Elsa valley, truffle hunts on the estate, organic farm produce at table. Event spaces host 20 to 150 people — castle weddings without pastiche. Season runs mid-March to October; Siena is 40 minutes away, Florence about an hour. The house opens mid-March to October — no winter here. Late May–June for the gardens, outdoor dinners and cinema under the stars; September–October for harvest, truffles and the golden light over the Elsa valley. The culinary season is a headline of its own: an annual project with three-star chef Norbert Niederkofler launches this season around Tosca.
For a wedding (20 to 150 guests), May–June and September Saturdays book out nearly a year ahead — we frame the calendar directly with the house.
