Two starred tables, two experiences of a castle — and a two-to-one price gap. Borgo Santo Pietro (3 Michelin Keys, 22 rooms on ~120 ha, ≈ $4,400–4,800 a night) is radical intimacy: gardens of 300,000 plants, a working farm, the Seed to Skin spa, Saporium ★. COMO Castello del Nero (1 Key, 50 rooms, ≈ $1,750–2,100) is balance: a 12th-century castle, the COMO Shambhala spa, Florence 30 minutes away, and Condé Nast Traveler readers' best hotel in Italy 2024. A confidential honeymoon: Borgo. A first Tuscany with spa and art cities: COMO.

Directional rates seen through the Michelin Guide's booking engine (late September 2026) — each house sets its prices, confirmed at booking. Booking through GADAIT costs nothing extra.
Book Borgo Santo Pietro for an occasion: a honeymoon, an anniversary for two, a gastronomic retreat. It is the rarer experience of the two — 3 Michelin Keys, 22 rooms, a garden farm without equivalent — at rarity's price.
Book COMO Castello del Nero for a first Tuscany, a spa stay, or a family trip weaving Florence, Siena and countryside: an authentic castle, a starred table, Shambhala, and the smartest entry ticket in top-tier Tuscany — especially on its free-night windows. Neither house is our partner: this head-to-head is purely editorial, and we book whichever fits your brief.
The five houses, the seasonal calendar and the budgets, straight — 9 pages to keep, facts checked against the Michelin Guide and dated. Yours for your email.

Luxury real-estate and stay advisory — official hotel partner of Monteverdi Tuscany, independent editorial selection for the other houses. Every fact on this page is sourced (Michelin Guide, the houses' public materials) and dated; pages are re-verified quarterly.
Our editorial method →Borgo Santo Pietro, objectively: 22 rooms on 120 hectares (3 Michelin Keys, 'extraordinary stay') versus 50 rooms at COMO (1 Key). It is one of Italy's most confidential houses — and one of its most expensive.
Roughly two to one: ≈ $1,750–2,100 a night at COMO versus ≈ $4,400–4,800 at Borgo (seen through the Michelin Guide's engine, late September 2026). COMO also publishes free-night windows (September, November–December); Borgo publishes signature packages from €2,980.
Two philosophies: COMO Shambhala is the more complete programme (25m pool, thermal suites, daily yoga included); Borgo's unique card is Seed to Skin, its own skincare brand made on the estate. For a structured wellness retreat, COMO; for author's treatments, Borgo.
Borgo Santo Pietro, unless budget dictates otherwise: 22 rooms, endless gardens, candlelit dinner at Saporium and a published couples' package ('Serenade of Love', from €3,220). COMO is the clever romantic alternative, with its Green Romance kitchen-garden dinner.
COMO Castello del Nero, no debate: Florence and Siena ~30 minutes each, San Gimignano next door — the best art-cities base camp in top-tier Tuscany. Borgo is deliberately apart: you go there to stay.
Both run long seasons — COMO publishes offers from July to December, Borgo animates summer (FESTVM TERRAE) and Mondays with its Farmers' Market. Exact dates and technical closures are confirmed at quotation.
One conversation: dates, guests, spirit of the stay. Neither house is our partner — we organise both as an independent stay advisor, at the hotels' own rates, at no extra cost, with availability within 4 hours.
